Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro produces and processes zero-residue tomatoes

Thanks to the innovations and modern technologies made available by Agriculture 4.0, after two years of studies and experiments, the Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro produced and processed zero-residue tomatoes during the 2019 season.

The project involved 50 hectares of tomato fields in the province of Cremona, near the Rivarolo del Re plant and owned by Casalasco Agricola. This company is controlled by Consorzio Casalasco and was established in 2016 with the precise aim of more autonomously developing and implementing varietal experimentation, the use of new field technologies, and the achievement of more sustainable cultivation practices by making the best use of the cooperative's know-how.

In zero-residue tomatoes, pesticide residues are completely absent, meaning they are below the detection limit of the analysis instrument, which is 0.01 mg/kg. This is achieved only by applying a strict protocol that includes targeted interventions and adherence to the degradation times of synthetic molecules.

Zero-residue represents an evolution of organic products, a further step forward in achieving safer, healthier, and more sustainable products in line with consumer demands.

Consorzio Casalasco's goal in the coming years is to increase the areas dedicated to this practice, involving all members, to offer its customers and the end consumer an increasingly natural food product.
