Casalasco's De Rica brand is a “Historic Brand of National Interest”

60 years ago, one of the country's largest canning industries was founded in Piacenza

De Rica, a brand of Casalasco S.p.A., has officially been recognized as a “Historic Brand of National Interest” by the Ministry of Economic Development; its name is now registered in the special register established at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office.

A coveted title, awarded only to those business brands registered for at least fifty years and used for the marketing of products or services produced by an excellent national manufacturing company, historically linked to the territory.
De Rica has done even more: in 2023, it celebrated its 60th anniversary.

Indeed, it was in 1963 that one of the country's largest canning industries was founded in Piacenza. It entered every home to bring “finally, all year round, the aroma and flavor of fresh tomatoes” to Italian recipes, and by 1967, it was already an icon, thanks to “Carosello” and the animated cartoons featuring Sylvester the Cat and Tweety, produced exclusively with Warner Bros by Organizzazione Pagot. “No! Not on De Rica!” is Sylvester the Cat's famous line that concluded every cartoon when, after daring escapes, Tweety found refuge on a De Rica product.

Since 2017, De Rica has been part of Casalasco - Società Agricola S.p.A., Italy's leading integrated supply chain for industrial tomatoes. Thus, the historic brand – always attentive to the quality of its raw materials – has returned to its origins, to the countryside of Gariga di Podenzano (PC), where it all began 60 years ago.
