The Casalasco Società Agricola SpA assembly approved the 2023 financial statements, reporting consolidated revenues up 27% to over 630 million euros, with an EBITDA of 81.1 million euros.

Another record year for the leading integrated tomato supply chain in Italy specializing in tomato processing, packaging, and marketing of its derivatives, which, in addition to its financial performance, reaffirms its commitment to the environment, local communities, and its people.

The consolidated financial statements of the Casalasco Group confirm the positive trend of the organization based in Rivarolo del Re (Cr), which, with its 5 plants, processed 800,000 tons of fresh tomatoes during the last season, solidifying its 7th position globally.

The number of end markets also continues to grow, exceeding 75 in 2023, reached through both proprietary brands (Pomì and De Rica) and co-packing and private label activities that span all continents, with a particular focus on the Far East, including Japan, where the Group recently finalized the acquisition of De Martino, a leading commercial operator specializing in Asian and Scandinavian markets.

The share of revenue from international markets remains a fundamental asset for the Group's growth, accounting for over two-thirds of total revenue, with a share in the retail segment at 76% of the total. Tomato derivatives lead the product categories, with 85% of revenue divided between basic products, ready-made sauces and ketchup.

Supply Chain, Quality, Innovation, Research & Development, People, Environment and Safety are the pillars upon which Casalasco's sustainable strategy is built. The company adopts a transparent approach, respecting all its stakeholders with the common mission of building an efficient and solid chain for the equitable distribution of value throughout the supply chain.

Great attention has always been dedicated to people, the heart and engine of Casalasco. With a peak of 2150 employees during the tomato campaign, in 2023 the number of permanent employees increased by 10%.

If we add the workforce at the plants to the related industries represented by the agricultural companies that are members of the Casalasco Tomato Consortium and all the group's logistics and distribution activities, the number of workers involved in the Casalasco supply chain is approximately 10,000, with an average age of around 40 years.

The Group has carried out significant personnel development projects, totaling over 16,000 hours specific training and welfare plans aimed at supporting employee well-being.

Casalasco's Quality department conducted over one million quality analyses overseeing all stages of the supply chain from the field to the distribution of every single package, while the Research & Development generated over 100 new projects related to innovative recipes and packaging.

In this regard, in 2023, renovation work began on the property near the Fontanellato plant, with the aim of creating the new Group Innovation Center designed to centralize all research activities in a single hub; the inauguration is scheduled for 2024.

Last fiscal year, Casalasco invested approximately 30 million Euros to improve production and environmental performance. The new three-year development plan includes investments in industrial assets totaling over 50 million Euros, focused particularly on energy efficiency, quality improvements, and self-production of energy.

“For several years now, Sustainability has been a primary focus for Casalasco - comments Costantino Vaia, CEO of Casalasco S.p.A. -. In addition to significant growth in terms of markets, products, revenues, and margins, 2023 also confirmed the concrete development of the social and environmental culture that has always involved us and driven our operations day after day.”
