Fontanellato - March 19, 2025 – Casalasco, one of the world's leading operators in industrial tomato production and processing, has finalized a new significant investment in the agri-food sector. Following integrated supply chains for tomato and pea cultivation and processing, the Group will launch a third integrated supply chain this year, dedicated to basil cultivation and processing. With this initiative, the company expands and diversifies its business, combining the needs of the agricultural component with market trends, further strengthening its leadership in promoting the quality of Italian products both in Italy and abroad.

Casalasco, which in recent months has already completed significant operations for its brand portfolio, acquiring the German sauce range from Unilever Knorr - Tomato al Gusto and the brands from Star Pummarò, Polpabella e Sugo Lampo, has invested in the creation of the new supply chain over 10 million euros.

Thanks to its consolidated experience in the agricultural sector, the synergy it has built with the industrial supply chain, and its strong relationship with local farmers, the Group has developed a controlled supply chain model that guarantees high quality standards at all stages, and all the farms that will cultivate basil are already certified ISCC Plus, a standard whose basic requirements are traceability and sustainability.

Processing will take place at the plant in Fontanellato (Parma), where new lines dedicated to the selection, washing, and initial processing of fresh leaves will be installed.

"Our growth path," explains Casalasco's CEO Costantino Vaia - continues through both external growth, such as recent acquisitions, and internal development. Among these, the basil supply chain undoubtedly represents this year's most significant investment, combining an opportunity for our agricultural supply chain with the commercial need to meet growing market demand. Specifically, for this product category, there is strong demand for products that stand out for quality, traceability, and raw material sustainability, all fundamental elements of our supply chain.
